The Chiefs’ perfect season is a thing of the past. A 23-19 loss to the Bengals gave Kansas City its first loss of the season, dropping them to 9-1. Despite consistently getting the ball near mid-field in the first half, the Chiefs could only muster a 3-3 at halftime. They briefly took the lead in the third quarter with a 39-yard field goal from Morten Andersen, but the Bengals responded with two touchdowns to take a 17-3 lead. Cincinnati never trailed after that. Trent Green finished with 313 yards passing with two touchdowns and no interceptions, but they couldn’t get anything going on the ground. The Bengals’ stingy rushing defense held the Chiefs to just 67 yards. The Chiefs’ loss and the Broncos 37-8 win over the Chargers cuts their lead in the AFC West to three games.
