An Army reservist who was scheduled to leave Missouri soon for duty in Iraq has been hit by a car and killed in St. Louis. Benjamin Ley of Fenton was struck as he stepped out of a tavern with friends early Friday morning. Police say he was leaving the tavern when he was was hit and dragged several yards by a car whose driver kept going. Ley was pronounced dead a short time later at Saint Louis University Hospital. The driver returned to the scene later and surrendered to police officers, telling them he had panicked. No charges have been filed.
