The State Ethics Commission says it is ethical for members of the Legislature to work for groups that lobby them for legislative favors. A State Representative had asked the Ethics Commission whether it’s ethical for a legislative committee chairman to sell or recruit memberships for a group that appears before his committee. The Ethics Commission says legislators cannot benefit from their positions, but the State cannot keep them from having outside interests.
