Saint Louis University made their intention to join the Atlantic 10 public yesterday by accepting the conference’s invitation to join yesterday. The Atlantic 10 invited Saint Louis and Charlotte to join last Thursday. On Monday, Charlotte accepted. The two teams will begin play in the 2005-2006 season. SLU and Charlotte are currently members of Conference USA, which had five teams—Louisville, Cincinnati, South Florida, Marquette and DePaul—leave last week. Five more teams—-Rice, SMU, Tulsa, Central Florida and Marshall—joined C-USA on the same day. With the addition the Atlantic 10 will actually have 14 teams.
