He says he can’t, so he won’t even try to fill the shoes of the late Buzz Westfall, but St. Louis County Councilmember Charlie Dooley says he will do the best that he can as the new county executive. Dooley will assume the role until a special election can be held next year. Dooley has been on the council for nine years. He represents a North County district. Dooley took over during an emotional meeting Monday. The Council gave a final tribute to Westfall. It passed a resolution naming the county jail after him. Westfall, who also served as county prosecutor, counted passage of the jail bonds as one of his proudest accomplishments.
