It was a busy night for just about everyone involved as the Blues beat the Red Wings 6-5 at Joe Louis Arena. Doug Weight, who’s a Detroit native, scored three goals to earn the second hat trick of his career. But Weight wasn’t the only Blue with multiple goals. Rookie Peter Sejna got on the scoreboard with two goals of his own. Weight and Sejna both had help—from the same guy Dallas Drake tied a single-game franchise record when he assisted in all five of Weight and Sejna’s goals. Brian Sutter, Bernie Federko and Adam Oates also had five assists in a game. Chris Osgood got his first win against his old teams despite giving up five goals. The five-goal evening doesn’t sound so bad when you consider he faced 50 shots on goal. The Blues snapped the Red Wings 15-game home winning streak, which dated back to last season. St. Louis lost all five games to Detroit in 2002-2003. With the win the Blues remain in first place in the Central Division and lead the Red Wings by three points.
