Missouri quarterback Brad Smith was named USA Today.com’s national player of the week on Wednesday. Smith rushed for 291 yards and five touchdowns in Missouri’s 62-31 win over Texas Tech Saturday. He chalked up the biggest rushing performance in the NCAA this season and it was the second best all-time by a quarterback. Smith wasn’t the only Tiger to be honored yesterday. The National Football Fondation and College Hall of Fame named lineman Rob Droege a National Scholar Athlete. He’s one of eight Division I-A players to receive the honor. In May, Droege received his bachelor’s degree with a 3.85 grade-point average and is currently taking graduate school courses.
