National Guard Closing Half Dozen Armories

October 28, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The National Guard is closing six armories to save money. Armories in St. Ann, Caruthersville, Charleston, Salem, Neosho and Bernie will be closed, starting next month. Units at those armories will be moved to the nearest armory and the buildings will become the property of the State Office of Administration. The action comes after a state audit that suggested some old armories should be closed because they are old and not economical to maintain.
