Officials with the Red Cross are worried. They say not enough Missourians have given consideration to being prepared in the case of disaster. And, as the Red Cross’ Nicole Holtgrefe points out a recent public opinion poll shows the public is even less confident that their employers are prepared for disaster. Holtgrefe says the Red Cross has been pushing preparedness this year, emphasizing that all Americans should take a five-step approach: make a plan, build a disaster kit, get trained, volunteer, and give blood. She says recent events should motivate people to prepare, events such as Hurricane Isabel and the power outage in the Northeast as well as the still-present concerns about terrorists.
