A Jefferson City State Penitentiary inmate is dead and two other inmates are missing. An intensive search is underway inside the prison after guards discovered inmate Toby Viles dead in the prison ice house last night. Local police have set up a perimeter in the penitentiary area. Viles was serving three terms of life without patrole for murder. He was from Johnson County. He and the other two inmates were working at the penitentiary ice house. Corrections Department Spokesman Tim Kniest says all inmates are being kept in their cells this morning while the search goes on for the two that are missing. Both of them are serving sentences of life without parole for murder. Kniest is not saying how Viles died, but he says it was not from natural causes.
