The constitutionality of Missouri’s new concealed weapons law gets its first significant test today in the St. Louis courtroom of Judge Steve Ohmer. He’ll be hearing arguments about whether he should rule the law unconstitutional. Ohmer had issued an injunction temporarily keeping the law from going into effect. He’ll decide today whether to make the injunction permanent. The losing side will appeal to the State Supreme Court. At issue is whether the constitution allows the Legislature to pass a concealed weapons law. Opponents say the state constitution’s ban on concealed weapons does not let the Legislature do that.
