Brent Johnson’s first start of the season didn’t last long. He was pulled in the first period after the Oilers took a 3-0 lead on the Blues in Edmonton. He was replaced by Chris Osgood. The offense caught fire and the Blues came away with a 6-4 win on the road. Doug Weight and Mike Danton scored in the final 4:03 of the first to cut Edmonton’s lead to 3-2. At the 5:11 mark of the second Pavol Demitra tied it and Jamal Mayers gave the Blues a 4-3 lead fifteen seconds later. St. Louis never trailed again. Petr Cajanek gave St. Louis a 5-3 advantage thanks to a power play goal assisted by Chris Pronger, who finished with three helpers. Barrett Jackman netted the Blues’ final goal with an empty-netter with :08 to go in the game. Osgood allowed stopped 17 of 18 shots after replacing Johnson in the first period. The win gave St. Louis seven points and moved them into first in the Central Division. The Blue play in Vancouver tonight
