The Chiefs were 17-10 winners over the Raiders in Oakland and improved to 7-0. The Chiefs took a 10-0 lead going into the locker room at halftime, thanks to Trent Green’s two-yard bootleg run and Morten Andersen’s 37-yard field goal. In the final minute of the second quarter, Rich Gannon bruised his shoulder and never returned. Marques Tuiasosopo filled in for Gannon and passed for 224 yards. He led the Raiders on a final-minute drive in the fourth quarter. The drive ended when he hit Tim Brown on the one-yard line, where Greg Wesley and Jerome Woods wrestled him to the ground as time expired. Priest Holmes proved to be the offensive star, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown and catching four passes for 50 yards. Tony Gonzalez caught three passes for 87 yards. The third reception made Gonzalez the Chiefs all-time leading pass-catcher with 417 receptions. Henry Marshall, who was also a star at Mizzou, was the previous franchise record-holder. With the win, the Chiefs improved moved two games ahead of the Broncos in the AFC West and the Raiders dropped to 2-5. The Chiefs play again on Sunday night against the Bills at Arrowhead.
