The leader of the State Senate is preparing for an announcement on his plans to seek higher office. Senator Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau isn’t saying which position he’s going after, other than to say it’s a statewide office and it’s not Governor. But it’s widely believed he’ll try to win election to the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. As he gears up for the announcement, Kinder is talking up the actions of the Republican-controlled Legislature, saying Governor Bob Holden tried to deal with budget concerns by raising taxes, and the Legislature prevented him from doing that. Kinder has promised an announcement this week.
