The St. Louis Science Center is losing the Gemini 6 space capsule that took Astronauts Walter Shirra and Thomas Stafford into space in December of 1965. The Smithsonian Institution, which owns Gemini 6, has picked up the capsule for refurbishing from the Science Center, where it had been on long-term loan. It’s being sent to the Oklahoma History Museum in Oklahoma City, Stafford’s hometown. The Smithsonian has promised to loan another space capsule to the St. Louis Science Center.
