Authorities Reject Link In Kansas City Area Lumberyard Fires

October 18, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

It appears as though there is no link between arson fires at two Kansas City area lumberyards and a blaze which burned through a third lumberyard. An official with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives calls the fire at the Schutte Lumber Company, north of Kansas City, an “unusual coincidence” but says there is no connection with the arson fires earlier this month at lumberyards in Kearney and Mosby. Those lumberyards are owned by the same family and have no connection with the owner of the Schutte lumberyard. Total damage to the Kearney and Mosby sites was estimated at $2-Million, while damage to the Schutte lumberyard is believed to be about twice that much.
