Secretary of State Matt Blunt, the likely Republican nominee for Governor, isn’t yet ready to announce his intentions, but he appears to be getting close. Missouri Republicans are leaving the path clear for Blunt to be the party’s flag bearer in next year’s race for the Governor’s Office. Blunt is keeping his intentions to himself, but he’s starting to talk about a change at the top, and indicating he sees himself as a replacement for Bob Holden, to focus on such concerns as business, the Legislature, andeducation. Without saying he’s the man for the job, Blunt insists the Secretary of State’s Office has been setting a good example of how state government offices should function. Campaign fundraising documents show Blunt has $1.2-Million dollars on hand with which to wage a campaign.
