The man in charge of Missouri’s economic development efforts believes the state is getting a firm grip on the task of developing our workforce for the challenges of the new century. Missouri’s job picture is improving as the economy recovers from the recession, but Economic Development Director Joe Driskill believes more must be done to hold onto existing jobs and to attract new ones to the Show-Me State. That was the message of the recent Conference on Workforce Development. Driskill says employers, business leaders, and educators who took part are now back in their own communities, equipped with the message that Missouri’s workforce must be well-skilled and well-educated, or further job losses can be expected. Driskill says without the education and training, jobs will be lost to other states and countries.
