The Blues open up their 2003-2004 season on Friday in Phoenix, but their first-line right winger won’t make the trip. Scott Mellanby won’t travel with the team as he tries to heal from a rib injury suffered during an exhibition game. He hasn’t skated since the injury occurred. Mark Rycroft will take his spot on the top line. The Blues have also listed fellow winger Dallas Drake as questionable with a facial injury. He took a puck to the face on Friday night.
