A challenge to the state’s conceal and carry gun law has been filed in a St. Louis court. Some state lawmakers from the St. Louis area and the mayor pro tem of Kansas City filed the suit contending the new law is unconstitutional. They cite specific provisions in the state constitution dating back to 1875. The law passed during the regular legislative session, was vetoed by Governor Bob Holden, and then that veto was overridden by lawmakers last month. Attorney General Jay Nixon, who would end up defending the law, wants to have the venue moved to Jefferson City. A St. Louis judge is considering that request.
