One of Kansas City’s large employers has expanded its operations with the opening of its new world headquarters building. Cerner Corporation, a health care information technology company which has been in Kansas City since 1979, uses technology to connect people with the appropriate health related resources – including specialists and / or facilities. Cerner’s Justin Scott says the company, which employs about 5,000 people, claims to make health care safer by eliminating a lot of the paperwork and a lot of the waste associated with the industry. He points out Cerner plans further expansion, intending to add about 250 employees by the end of the year. Among those on hand for the opening was Governor Bob Holden and Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes.
