Boone County authorities have given up trying to find a helicopter that might or might not have crashed south of Interstate 70 last weekend. The Columbia 911 operator got a cel-phone call Saturday night from a sobbing man claiming to have been aboard a six-passenger helicopter that had crashed into some dense woods west of Columbia. Three days of searching with dogs, airplanes, helicopters, and people on foot have located nothing.
