The Kansas City Chiefs may have an NFL MVP on their hands. Dante Hall’s zig-zagging, back-pedalling 93-yard punt return in the fourth quarter, put them on top and gave the Chiefs a 24-23 win over the Broncos at Arrowhead. It was the fourth straight week with a return touchdown, whic re-set the record Hall broke the week before. He needs just one more to set the NFL mark for return touchdowns in a season. Kansas City needed the return in a big way. Their offense struggled against the Denver defense all day long. In fact the special teams out gained the offense 262 yards to 259. Trent Green was 15-28 for 128 yards but got two acrobatic touchdown catches from Johnny Morton and Tony Gonzalez. Priest Holmes was kept out of the endzone, but rushed for 97 yards. Holmes almost threw for a score, but Eddie Kennison got only one foot in bounds on a half back option pass to the endzone. The Chiefs defense was able to withstand Denvers ensuing drive, when Jason Elam missed a 53-yard field goal attempt. Kansas City was able to get deep into the Broncos’ territory, but Priest Holmes fumlbed the ball inside the ten-yard line to give the Denver hope. The defense was able to come back big again, stopping them on fouth down. The Chiefs are now 5-0 for the first time in their history.
