Three months of fear that a rapist might be prowling the back roads of Lawrence County have evaporated, because it appears the rape never happened. Lawrence County Sheriff Doug Seneker says a woman who claimed to have been raped in June has been charged with filing a false police report. The woman had claimed she stopped on a country road, because she had a flat tire. She said a man in a green pick-up stopped, abducted her and raped her. Seneker says the woman changed her story several times and he says lab results and telephone records indicate there was no abduction at knifepoint and no rape. The sheriff says the report shook up the entire county and even frightened his wife and daughter so much they feared for their lives when driving by themselves at night.
