Drew Richards had a gymnasium full of people waiting for a decision. The Logan-Rogersville senior gave them the answer many were hoping for. Richards announced his intent to attend Southwest Missouri St. and join Barry Hinson’s basketball team next year. The eruption, which followed, seemed to indicate a general approval by the folks stuffed into the Logan-Rogersville gymnasium. Richards, who averaged 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocks as a junior, picked SMS over Texas Tech and Arkansas. Richards said he would sign a letter of intent when the early signing period begins in November. Head coach Barry Hinson seems to have a knack lately for attracting some of the better players in the area. The 2003 recruiting class includes Deven Mitchell from Springfield Kickapoo, Nathan Bilyeu from Ozark, Tyler Chaney from Neosho and Jeremy Nicholson of Ash Grove. The other two players are also from Missouri; they are Sky Frazier from St. Francis Borgia (Washington) and Blake Ahearn of DeSmet (St. Louis).
