Northwest Missouri State Not Yet in University of Missouri System

September 29, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The presidents of the University of Missouri and Northwest Missouri State University say they are still talking about merging the two schools but it’s not going to happen real soon. They say there are still enough issues to be resolved that they will not ask the legislture next year to pass a merger bill. Among the problems: big tuition differences, different retirement programs and state funding. Northwest Missouri State University is located in Maryville and has about 6,500 students. The four-campus University of Missouri system has more than 60,000.
