They’ve been eliminated from postseason contention, but the Royals still have a battle for second place in the AL Central. Kansas City drew even with the White Sox in the standings, beating Chicago 7-3 at Kaufmann Stadium on Thursday. Starter Brian Anderson took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. He gave up three runs in eight innings and won his 14th game of the season. Carlos Beltran homered and drove in three runs, giving him 99 RBI on the season. If Beltran drives in one more run this season, he’ll become just the sixth player since 1900 to record 100 RBI, 100 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in three years. Rondell White also went deep for Kansas City. Brent Mayne and Joe Randa each drove in a run for the Royals.
