State Audit Raises Questions About Roadside Weigh Stations

A state audit questions the management of those truck weigh stations we see alongside our major highways and says they’re closed too much at night and on weekends. Auditor Claire McCaskill says the patrol is not doing enough to protect the state’s highways from trucks that are too heavy. The State Highway Patrol and the State Transportation Department, which owns the weigh stations, are thinking of closing some of them because of lack of money.
