Some American Airlines workers in St. Louis are getting some good news for a change. Not as many of them will lose their jobs as first thought on November first. But it’s a temporary reprieve for 190 mechanics. American says it’s going to keep more mechanics than it thought it would when the big service cutback is made at Lambert-St. Louis Airport. American had planned to cut 350 mechanics jobs. It now says it will cut 160. Those that are kept will have jobs until modifications are finished on some TWA planes so that they can fly under American Airlines certification.
