The NCAA has sent a letter of inquiry to the Mizzou Athletic Department. The letter officially informed the university that the NCAA has begun an investigation into the men’s basketball program. While no specifics were mentioned, the letter says that the NCAA will investigate possible violations that the University is currently looking into. On August 25, University President Elson Floyd appointed Michael Devaney to lead an investigation into possible academic fraud involving former basketball player Ricky Clemons. Devaney is an engineering professor and former chair of the MU faculty council. Jessica Bunge, who used to date Clemons, claims he was paid by members of the coaching staff and that he had some class work done for him. In a prepared statement, head coach Quin Snyder says he looks forward to aiding the investigation.
