The University of Missouri-Columbia has formally kicked off a $600-Million fund-raising campaign – the school’s largest ever. As state support for higher education declines, the University is following the lead of private colleges and universities. It’s looking to target alumni, foundations, and corporations for larger donations. The school plans to spend $115-Million of the $600-Million for student support – scholarships, fellowships, and internships. $97-Million will be spent on faculty support, $126-Million would go for facilities, including building renovations, and $162-Million would be used for programs such as curriculum development and diversity initiatives.
