A third sexual abuse lawsuit has been filed against former Kansas City Catholic priest Hugh Monahan. Monahan was a priest for 20 years in Kansas City. He served nine parishes. The diocese says Monahan left the diocese, and the priesthood, in 1989. In the latest lawsuit, a man says Monahan sodomized and raped him for five years, starting when he was 11-years-old. The lawsuit also lists the diocese, the bishop, and vicar general as defendants. It says they concealed the abuse and refused to pay for counselling for the man who says he was victimized by Monahan. It’s thought Monahan lives in Puerto Rico now.
