Royals Win, Remain 4 1/2 Back

September 19, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Jose Lima returned from the disabled list by hurling five strong innings, and leading the Royals to a 3-2 win at Cleveland. Lima improved to 8-1, winning his first game since July 27. Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run in the third. Angel Berroa and Mike Sweeney each drove in a run for Kansas City. Jeremy Affeldt threw three hitless innings of relief, and Curtis Leskanic picked up the save. Kansas City’s playoff hopes look dim, though. The Royals are 4 1/2 games back of division-leading Minnesota and 3 1/2 games behind second-place Chicago. Of the Twins nine remaining games, seven are against the Detroit Tigers.
