The Cardinal offense came ready to play Thursday night, but it might have been too late. The Redbirds banged out 16 hits in a 13-0 win over the Brewers. Edgar Renteria led the way, going 4-for-4 with 5 RBI. Scott Rolen homered and drove in two runs, giving him 100 RBI for the third straight season. Eduardo Perez also homered and pitched in with 3 RBI. Woody Williams threw seven shutout innings, and picked up his career-high 16th win of the season. Despite Thursday’s win, the Cardinals are quickly running out of time. The Redbirds trail first-place Houston by five games in the N.L. Central. The Cardinals have just eight games left in the regular season.
