With eleven games to go, the Royals are four-and-a-half games out of first place in the American League Central. Their four-game winning streak was halted last night with a 9-1 loss to the Indians. Aaron Guiel drove in the Royals’ only run with a double in the seventh inning. Paul Abbott came into the contest with a career 5-0 record against Cleveland, but he gave up four runs off six hits and got the loss. Jake Westbrook and the Cleveland bullpen held the Royals to five hits on the night. The Twins beat the White Sox 4-2 to increase their lead over Chicago to two-and-a-half games in the American League Central race.
