The Missouri Democratic Party is welcoming retired General Wesley Clark into the crowded field of candidates for the White House, but the Party is still standing behind the Show-Me State’s candidate. Missouri Democratic Party Spokesman Mike Kelley says that while any of the ten Democrats in the race for the White House would be preferable to President Bush, Congressman Richard Gephardt of St. Louis is the best choice. Kelley says that whileClark is a patriot and a great American, he lacks the resources and the organization to run a hard-fought and lengthy presidential campaign. But, he says, the Clark development does bring some excitement to the campaign.Kelley says he and other leading Missouri Democrats are united in their support of Gephardt.
