A 4-1 win over Cleveland should have been safe. Instead, the Indians rallied for a 6-5 win over Kansas City. Joe Randa was 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run and four RBI, but his eighth inning throwing error led to Alex Escobar’s game-winning single. Two rain delays totaling nearly two hours knocked both starters out of the game in the middle of the second inning. A four-run second inning gave K.C. a 4-1 lead, but the Indians came back with a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Randa’s RBI double tied the game in the seventh, but his miscue allowed Cleveland to pick up the win. The Royals trail A.L. Central co-leaders Chicago and Minnesota by 3.5 games.
