The Royals deficit in the American League Central is reaching the point of no return. They dropped four and a half games behind the White Sox after last night’s 7-1 falter at the hands of the Indians. Rookie Jimmy Gobble held the Indians to a single run through the first five innings, but Cleveland broke through in the sixth with a five-run rally. Victor Martinez capped the rally with a three run homer and sent Gobble on his way. He dropped to 3-4 on the season. The Royals only run was an RBI double by Brent Mayne in the seventh inning. Raul Ibanez continued his September slump going 0-4; he’s hitting .125 for the month.
