About 1,300 Missouri National Guard soldiers have been told they won’t be coming home soon. The Pentagon says the Guard members in Iraq and surrounding countries will have to stay in-theatre for 365 days. Adjustant General Dennis Shull says that means some units willl be on active duty 16 months before they get back. The Army says the policy applies only to those now serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, not to any future deployments of Reserve and Guard soldiers.
