Matt Morris threw a complete game three-hit shut out as the Cards beat the Reds 9-0. Morris took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but Juan Castro broke it up with a single to lead off the seventh. In going the distance, Morris earned his third shut and fifth complete game of the season. He also improved his record to 10-6. At the plate he had plenty of help as Edgar Renteria went 3-5 with three RBI’s while Tino Martinez and Orlando Palmiero drove in two apiece. Palmiero and Mike Matheny hit homers on Sunday. The Cardinals are a game and a half behind the Cubs, who hold the top spot in the N.L. Central.
