Former Secretary of State Bekki Cook says she’s looking at running for Lieutenant Governor next year. But she says she won’t do it if auditor Clarie mcCaskill goes for the job – and she says she hopes McCaskill will do that instead of challenging Governor Bob Holden in next August’s primary. McCaskill says she’s not interested in Lieutenant Governor. She says she’ll announce her Governor plans next month. Cook thought about running for Lieutenant Governor in 2000 but decided not to get into a race that already had several Democrats. She served six years as Secretary of State. She’s been practicing law in her hometown of Cape Girardeau since leaving office.
