Thousands Of Missourians With Household Finance Loans To Share In Settlement

August 5, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Thousands of Missourians with home loans from Household Finance will soon be able to claim a share of a $13.1-Million settlement in a suit against the company. Scott Holste with the State Attorney General’s Office says the filing can begin this week once notices of eligibility are sent out. Missouri was one of several states alleging that Household committed unfair and deceptive mortgage lending practices, overcharged borrowers with excessive hidden fees and interest, and misled borrowers about other loan terms. About 16,000 Missouri borrowers stand to benefit. The amount of each Missouri claim will be anywhere from about $50 to several hundred dollars.
