The State Revenue Department is gearing up for this week’s launch of the tax amnesty program which is designed to collect tax dollars from individuals and businesses delinquent in paying their taxes. The Department’s Todd Iveson says waiving interest and penalties might help some honest people come up with the dollars they need to get up to date with their taxpaying. The program, passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bob Holden, begins Friday and runs through October 31st. Notices have been sent to about 220,000 individual and corporate taxpayers. If everyone pays, the stand stand to net $444-Million.
