Jose Lima’s career seemingly ended when the Detroit Tigers cut him last year. His re-birth as a Royal continued on Sunday as he improved to 7-0 and became the first Royals since David Cone in 1994 to win seven straight decisions. Kansas City came away with a 5-1 win over Detroit, thanks in large part to Lima’s performance. In his first start since pulling his groin, Lima lasted five innings allowing four hits and no runs. Sean Lowe, Jason Grimsley and Mike MacDougal worked the final four innings allowing one hit, one walk and one run. Angel Berroa and Desi Relaford homered on Sunday. Berroa finished with two RBI’s. With the win, the Royals kept their four-game lead over the White Sox. Kansas City and Chicago meet at Kauffman tomorrow.
