A Kansas City man accused of leaving his disabled wife on the living room floor to rot – alive – for the last two months appears to have fled. Police are looking for Robert Swartz. Medical technicians called to the Swartz home say they found his wife, Quinilla, lying on the floor, covered with maggot-infested bedsores, almost incoherent and motionless – so emaciated that her bones were showing. She’s critical at a Kansas City hospital. Robert Swartz is charged with elder abuse, although his wife is only 43. The prosecutor says he faces that charge because his wife has been wheelchair-bound for about ten years.
