After getting bounced by the A’s for two games, the Royals took their frustrations out on the Twins. Kansas City blasted five home runs in an 8-3 win at the Metrodome. Raul Ibanez, Carlos Beltran and Angel Berroa were responsible for three of them. The other two came courtesy of Aaron Guiel. Jeremy Affeldt was the starting pitcher and allowed one run off three hits. That was the good news. The bad news was that he was pulled after the fifth inning when another blister flared up on his middle finger. Affeldt, who got his sixth win, isn’t expected to miss his next start. Mike MacDougal who has succeeded this year despite battling control problems was tagged for two runs in the ninth inning. He allowed two hits and two walks and was pulled with two outs. Nate Field got the final out. With the win, the Royals hold on to their five-game lead over the White Sox and hold a six and take six and a half game advantage over the Twins.
