The man who sponsored the state tax exemption of federal tax rebate checks two years ago does not see a repeat of that action this year. Advance federal child tax credit checks of $400 per child are heading out this week, and Senator Harry Kennedy of St. Louis says the state’s revenue projections for this year probably won’t allow that money to be exempt from state tax. But, he admits it’s money the average Missourian might need as well. Kennedy says if anything were to happen, just like two years ago, Governor Bob Holden would have to ask lawmakers to consider it during a special session that would probably run concurrently with the September veto session.
