Rickey Clemons was kicked of the University of Missouri basketball team yesterday. He was informed of the decision Tuesday morning at around 11:00. Athletic Director Mike Alden made the announcement yesterday at a press conference at the Hearnes Center. On July 4, Clemons injured himself on an ATV at the home of University of Missouri president Elson Floyd. The accident occurred several hours after he was supposed return to a halfway house, where he was serving a 60-day sentence for falsely imprisoning a former girlfriend. Clemons lied to the staff of the halfway house, telling them he was going to study, when he was actually going to Floyd’s house. Floyd says Clemons told him he had to be back by 10:30, when he was supposed to return by 5:30. At yesterday’s press conference, Alden revealed that after Clemons pleaded guilty to the false imprisonment charge he signed a behavioral agreement. Clemons was serving a one-year suspension from the basketball team when the July 4th incident occurred.
