A brain surgery technique taught by neurosurgeons at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine is now being used by doctors around the world who have taken part in a conference at the University. The University’s Doctor Saleem Abdulrauf is one of the neurosurgeons who teaches the technique. He says it’s unique in that it focuses squarely on patients with brain tumors thought to be “inoperable.” In a nutshell, the technique involves removal of the orbital bone above the eye to get below the brain to take out a tumor or lesion that otherwise would have remained out of the reach of doctors.
