It looks like the Royals will have to keep winning without Mike Sweeney. After a workout in Kansas City yesterday, team doctors don’t think he’ll be ready for at least ten days to two weeks. Sweeney, who hasn’t played since June 18th, is hitting .321 with 12 homers and 50 RBI’s. He’s suffering from nerve irritation at the base of his neck. The Royals own a commanding seven-game lead over the White Sox in the American League Central and lead the Twins by seven and a half. Tonight, Kansas City hosts Seattle. The Mariners have the best record in the American League and the second-best mark in baseball.
